ABOUT OUR RACE
The EG10k is a community event organised “for runners, by runners” with all proceeds going to our charities, East Grinstead Lions and Prostate Cancer UK. It is organised and supported by volunteers from the East Grinstead Runners, East Grinstead Triathlon Club, and the East Grinstead Athletics Club who will provide friendly encouragement, no matter what the weather.
The race is dedicated to the memory of Andy Ripley OBE, English rugby union international, an active East Grinstead sportsman and former member of both EGAC and EGTC, who died from prostate cancer in 2010.
The event attracts 300-400 competitors and caters for all abilities, from those looking to complete their first 10k to some of the talented athletes in our local clubs such as Oxted Runners, Crawley AC and Lingfield RC who may be chasing the 2021 course record of 31:57 minutes.
The first 7km are off-road on well-surfaced bridleways and the final 3km are on residential roads. The route is well marshalled and has a water station at 5km.
