ABOUT US

We are one of the longest running triathlon clubs in the country, originally formed by enthusiasts over 30 years ago.

Our head coach, Martin Darlison, was one of the founders and has a wealth of experience of coaching from novice through to international age group triathletes.

We welcome everyone across all abilities and adult age groups, from absolute beginners to experienced club athletes and GB age-group representatives. Many of us joined after competing in the annual East Grinstead Try-a-Tri race for the first time and found a whole new world of friends, fitness and skills.

To find out more about the club, read about our testimonials below and contact our membership secretary if you have any questions.

Triathlon and East Grinstead Tri Club have been a key part of my life for the past two decades.  To my mind our sport is unique in the variety of opportunities it presents for physical fitness and mental wellbeing.  Whether that be pushing yourself in competition such as GB Age Group representation, participating in a social sense, or taking on a significant individual challenge.  The club supports members in all these respects, as I have found to my own benefit since I first came into contact with the club in 2005.  We are blessed with fabulous local routes for running and biking and have open swim venues on our doorstep.  As Chair, I am supported by a fabulous committee, coaching & activator team and other volunteers who bring along their valuable knowledge and skills as well as precious time.  Collectively we strive to give our members the best experience, just as the club has been doing for nearly 40 years.

I am pleased to be able to say I have been a member of EG Tri club for 32 years (with a small break while I did other things!). I’m proud to be in ‘The Class of 86’ having taken part in the very first EG triathlon. The coaching standard at the club is so good that at the tender age of 67 I am the same or better in each discipline compared to my times in 1986. The club has taken me up to half Ironman standard since I turned 60. Whatever your ambitions EG tri club will ensure you achieve them. Even if you just want the social side of this friendly club and your aim is just keeping fit for life that can work too.
