We are one of the oldest triathlon clubs in the country, originally formed by enthusiasts over 30 years ago.

Our head coach, Martin Darlison, was one of the founders and has a wealth of experience of coaching from novice through to international age group triathletes.

We welcome everyone across all abilities, from absolute beginner to experienced racer. Many of us joined after competing in the annual Try a Tri race for the first time and found a whole new world of friends, fitness and learning new skills.

All we ask is that you are able to swim four lengths of front crawl, to join. It does not matter at what speed .  There are no other joining requirements.

Our youngest member is in their 20's and our oldest n their 70's !  So we truly are an 'everybody welcome' club.

"I joined EGTC about 20 years ago, as a swimmer. Soon after joining I developed my bike and run skills and entered a local triathlon and even though I had to get off my bike and push it up a hill, I never looked back! After that there was no stopping me and I did every local triathlon, then bigger events further afield, eventually qualifying for European and World age group events.

Through the club I qualified as a level 2 coach, along with being the club run coach for a number of years. I have really enjoyed being a member of EGTC without it I would never have got this far in triathlon. Now that I am retired I have the time to put back into the club, welcome new people and help develop this great sport."

I am pleased to be able to say I have been a member of EG Tri club for 32 years (with a small break while I did other things!). I’m proud to be in ‘The Class of 86’ having taken part in the very first EG triathlon. The coaching standard at the club is so good that at the tender age of 67 I am the same or better in each discipline compared to my times in 1986. The club has taken me up to half Ironman standard since I turned 60. Whatever your ambitions EG tri club will ensure you achieve them. Even if you just want the social side of this friendly club and your aim is just keeping fit for life that can work too.
